After thirty years as a photojournalist in the newspaper industry, Jim is expanding his reach to the art of documentary filmmaking. He will be working with non-profits, production companies and independent filmmakers to shed light on politically charged issues facing this nation and the world, especially in the areas of social and environmental justice. He is based in Philadelphia, PA.
During his newspaper career, he was consistently one of the top contributors to the Associated Press (AP) in Indiana, winning several AP Photo of the Month and POY awards. As a result, his work appeared in several major news publications and websites, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, MSNBC.com, ESPN.com, Chicago Tribune, NPR.com, and the Wall Street Journal.
Jim graduated from Indiana University (IU) with a degree in journalism and political science. He was named one of the Top Ten College Photographers of the Year in the nation by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation in 1982.
Jim holds a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, allowing for a drone perspective on certain projects.
Jim also holds a Certificate of Paralegal Studies with a particular interest in civil rights and environmental law.
